School is out and the kids are excited! Once the first week of excitement sets in every parent hears the words they don't want to hear, "I'm Bored!" Below are some ideas that might help you and your kids make it through the summer.
Check out your local library. Many libraries have special summer programs for children of all ages, such as workshops and author visits. Your child can discover new worlds and learn new things with a little summer reading.
Go for a hike or a bicycle ride. Take along a camera to take pictures of local nature. Have your child research the animals, insects, and plants you took pictures of at the library or in their home library and make a scrapbook they can share with other family and friends.
Visit local attractions. Living in the Kansas City area we have so many attractions geared towards children; Science City, Nelson Atkins Art Museum, Deanna Rose Farmstead, and the list goes on.
So when the kiddos start to get restless and complain about being bored, suggest some fun educational activities that will keep the kids entertained and the parents happy.
